Title: The role of art therapy in supporting a young adult with autism spectrum disorder in Singapore
Synopsis:

This dissertation presents a qualitative case study on providing art therapy to a young adult with autism spectrum disorder who has little speech ability. Research based on art therapy with adults with autism spectrum disorder is limited. And with an increased emphasis on supporting adults with autism spectrum disorder in Singapore, it is helpful to identify the types of support that may be arranged for them. This paper illustrates the role of art therapy, with reference to the concept of attunement, in connecting with a young adult with autism spectrum disorder. In addition, it looks at how kinaesthetic and sensory experiences with art materials facilitate engagement and expression in the art therapy sessions.
