Title: Grief work - making peace with the soul : an art-based and autoenthographical study
Synopsis:

This thesis is about my personal journey of experiencing grief and loss of a love one. The study captured my first hand lived experience in working though difficult images and feelings felt during the Chinese funeral rituals and traditional customs. This qualitative study uses a phenomenological approach, which utilizes autoenthography and art-based research to experience and document the grieving process through journal entries and artwork.

By immersing myself in ethnic Chinese influences and heritage, special attention is given to cultural specific themes as experienced in the creative forces in art-marking, and as well as in reviewing the series of artwork made during that research period. The purpose is to make meaningful connections in grief work using Chinese cultural perspectives, with the aim of contributing to the art therapy practices in Asia.
