Synopsis:

Deep within us all lies a 'voice' that longs to be heard, so as to be understood as it is the most essential need for humans to achieve relatedness. That 'voice' can come in all forms of expressions like words, music, images or movements to aid us in our communications with others. In this modern world, influenced by the digital culture, communication. With the advancement in technology, the potential risk of cyberbullying is also increasing. When one is bullied is as though one's voice has been robbed caused by the power imbalance. Empowerment is then required for healing to take place. The art therapist's role will then be to help the client find back their voice through empowerment. Just like every client who may speak a different language, different art materials are like different verbal languages and not all clients may speak the same language. Hence, an art therapist, we need to learn so as to adapt and understand about our clients' needs. With the advancement in technology, digital media might be the new 'voice' in our society that may need to understand.
