Title: The First Big Bang. Year: 2000. Medium: Bronze (with green and brown patinas) with opalescent glass, bronze with glass, rock crystal and epoxy resin. Dimensions: 196 x 64 x 64 cm
Synopsis:

Life-size bronze abstract sculpture comprised of three progressively larger brown-coloured balls in descending order, entwined with vine rendered in bronze with a green patina. The three balls rest on top of a large glass sphere constructed of pounded white slabs of opalescent glass and delineated with criss-crossing brown lines to give a quasi-geometric appearance. The smallest ball at the top rests on the tip of the curling vine. The title suggests that the balls are intended to connote planets or celestial bodies. The base is made of an epoxied glass and rock crystal layer on top of a bronze disc. This sculpture was a working model of the ‘Big Bang’ sculpture in the forecourt of the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth building (formerly the Old Hill Street Police Station), Singapore.
